A very special recipe today for the 150th edition of Canada Day.
In collaboration with Canadian Tire I am doing my part to turn social media #RedAndWhite
This recipe is both gluten and nut free and dedicated to Canadian Soccer Captain Atiba Hutchinson, who abides by both dietary restrictions.
I know this because I was able to interact with his sister, Toya, via social media!
In case you guys don’t know, I am a massive soccer fan and before we get to the cookie recipe I want to put the spotlight on arguably the most successful Canadian soccer player of all time.
Atiba is a 5x Canadian Player Of of The Year ( Including winning the last 3 awards in a row) and has played for top clubs in Sweden, Denmark, Holland and Turkey. He has most recently won the very competitive Turkish league ( twice in a row) and is the only Canadian to ever captain a team in the UEFA Champions League.
I believe he is also the only Canadian player ever to receive a rating of at least 80 on the popular FIFA video game series by EA sports.
In a country that is still not quite known or respected for what it does in soccer, Atiba is doing awesome things and I am glad to be able to shout him out.
We are all darn proud of you.
As for the gluten-free Canada Day Flag Recipe? It was adapted from the following recipe made by Gluten Free On A Shoe String. Go check it out!
I hope you guys give the recipe a shot and I give you full permission to enjoy this sweet treat on this very special day.
Oh and by the way, if you comment on my latest Instagram post you will have a chance to win a very special Canada Day Prize from yours truly!
Happy Canada Day!!!
