Basenpowder – A Mag, Cal & Zinc Supplement

In Canada there are a set of essential nutrients which tend to be under consumed by the general public.

This is a fancy way of saying that a meaningful percentage of people are likely falling short on specific vitamins and minerals.

Population data on nutrient intake interests me greatly as a registered dietitian, which is why I spent a good amount of time earlier this year writing on these important yet under consumed nutrients.

There are several in the list, but for the sake of today’s conversation – presented in collaboration with Pascoe Canada – I’d like to focus on three specifically.

These include:

Zinc – An extremely important nutrient for proper functioning of the immune system which may be under consumed by up to 1 in 3 people.

Magnesium –  Plays an important role in several bodily functions including blood pressure and blood sugar regulation while being potentially useful in specific conditions like migraine and PCOS.

Magnesium is under consumed by very close to half the population, based on recent data.

Calcium –  Like magnesium, there is data to suggest that calcium may be under consumed by nearly half the population.

It won’t surprise you to hear that calcium is fundamental to good bone health, but it also plays a massive role in blood pressure regulation too and is similar to magnesium in this regard.

Pascoe Canada’s Basenpowder Supplement

Supplements for key nutrients always generate additional interest because they are more likely to receive special attention from the media and content creators in the healthcare space.

This makes perfect sense because it is not optimal for anyone to be regularly under consuming any essential nutrient.

That brings us to Basenpowder, pictured below.

Basenpowder is a multi-mineral powder-based supplement that contains meaningful amounts of the key nutrients we’ve discussed here today.

It’s an ideal choice for who wants or needs to increase their intake of these particular key nutrients, particularly if they’d rather not do so using additional pills or capsules because, as per the photo above, it is contained within single serving sachets that you can mix with water and be on your way.

Here’s what one packet contains:

613 mg of Calcium in the form of Calcium Carbonate  – ~47% of the daily value (DV)

232 mg of Magnesium in the form of Magnesium Carbonate  –  ~55% of the daily value (DV)

1.5 mg of Zinc in the form of Zinc Sulfate  – ~14% of the daily value (DV)

Please note that the % Daily Values presented above are reference amounts for those aged 4 and older with exact requirements varying based on age and gender.\

Who Would Benefit?

You’ll notice that Basenpowder contains significant but not excessive amounts of each of calcium, magnesium and zinc and as a result could be a supplement of great interest for those looking to increase their intake of these key nutrients who may be having trouble doing so through food alone.

There are a number of reasons why someone might feel compelled to increase their intake of these nutrients above and beyond general health, one of which is to contribute positively to blood pressure because increasing intake of calcium and magnesium is known to help with blood pressure management.

Adequate calcium, magnesium and zinc are also important for their roles as dietary electrolytes which facilitate the optimal functioning, growth and repair of cells, tissue and the immune system.

For this purpose, and more, Basenpowder has you covered.
