Introducing Thesan – My New Recipe Developer

Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Thesan Arunachalam left on a journey of discovery fueled by curiosity about the world around him and the many connections and impacts food and its relationships have with people. From a young age, Thesan has shown a passion for making dishes that people would enjoy, culinary exploration, and healthy living. This passion led him to pursue a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Food and Nutrition at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Thesan’s desire to merge culinary expertise with nutritional science became evident. He honed his skills as a line cook, showcasing his adaptability in fast-paced kitchen environments. At The Good Son Restaurant, Thesan specialized in Garmanger, demonstrating his preparation of salads, cold appetizers, pastries, and desserts. Prior to this, he worked at Fionn MacCool’s, where he covered various stations for pub service and played a role in inventory management.

Throughout his undergraduate studies, Thesan engaged in various projects aimed at advancing nutritional knowledge and health promotion. Diverse topics, from group projects that study the correlation between physical activity levels and mental health to the impact of folate deficiency during pregnancy on infant health. Thesan’s desire for knowledge and commitment has helped him through these projects.

Thesan’s holistic approach to food and nutrition incorporates a range of passions and interests. With a love for culinary exploration, he openly experiments with new recipes and explores various cuisines. Committed to promoting health and wellness, he has also combined this with his love for exercise to foster healthy living practices. Cultural exploration is another key aspect of Thesan’s interests, as he analyzes diverse food traditions around the world, drawing inspiration from books, various dishes and culinary experiences.

Looking forward, Thesan Arunachalam aims to complete his education, earn his credentials as a Registered Dietitian, and apply his expertise to promote health and wellness in various settings. Thesan is passionate about making a tangible difference in people’s lives, through community health initiatives, or clinical nutrition. With a focus on empowering individuals and communities to make informed choices, Thesan is eager to embark on a fulfilling career journey, driving a positive impact in the field of nutrition for years to come.
