Recipes With COOKED Canned Fish + Canned Beans

Those who are familiar with my nutrition philosophy will know that I believe strongly that a diet higher in both fish and beans is a strong step to a better place for the average omnivorous person.

This is especially true of fatty fish like sardines, mackerel and salmon which contain significant amounts of both Vitamin D3 and the omega-3 fatty acids EPA/DHA – found in no other foods.

Those who are VERY familiar with my nutrition philosophy will know that I love promoting strategies that are economical and efficient, which is where canned beans and fish come in.

The final piece of that puzzle, however, is the novelty of actually cooking canned fish to elevate it from a culinary perspective – making it far more appealing for those who may otherwise be disinterested.

Let’s see what I was able to find:

White Bean And Sardine Stew – Saveur

Pro Tip: White beans have the most calcium of any legume.

Smoky Chickpeas W/ Mackerel – The Hungary Soul

Pro Tip: An excellent excuse to get more tomato sauce into your diet.

Chickpea And Sardine Curry – Charlotte Mei

Pro Tip: This recipe contains okra, one of the BEST veggies for lowering cholesterol + blood sugar

This last one is close to my heart because it’s from none other than my colleague Charlotte from Singapore.

We just so happened to record an epic podcast together on fatty liver disease, which this recipe is PERFECT for.
